Suno Pricing 2026: Plans, Credits and Commercial Use

Suno Pricing

Suno pricing starts at $10 per month for Pro or $30 per month for Premier, with a 20% discount when billed annually. Both paid plans provide commercial-use rights, but a major change introduced in September 2026 means generation credits are no longer the only limit worth checking. Pro now includes just 20 song downloads per month, while Premier includes 60.

The right Suno plan depends on how many finished tracks you need to export, how often you regenerate music and whether your workflow requires stems, editing or professional production tools. We compare the current plans, credit consumption, download restrictions, and licensing conditions to clarify what each subscription delivers.

If you primarily need short instrumentals for videos, podcasts or social media, the DIY AI Studio music generator offers a separate workflow with selectable durations and a visible credit requirement before generation. It is especially worth considering if you don’t need Suno’s full songwriting environment.

Our recommendation: Pro is the sensible starting point for individuals producing occasional commercial songs. Premier becomes worthwhile when you need considerably more generation capacity, advanced stem handling, Suno Studio or more than 20 standard song downloads each month.

The hidden limit: generation credits are not downloadable songs

Suno now separates the credits used to create music from the allowance used to download it. This makes the headline generation allowance a poor measure of how much finished music you can publish.

Under the standard v6 generation workflow, spending 10 credits produces two song variations. That gives the following theoretical monthly capacity:

MetricProPremier
Monthly generation credits2,50010,000
Standard two-song generations2501,000
Potential song variations5002,000
Standard song download allowance2060
Download allowance as a share of potential variations4%3%

These are capacity calculations, not predictions of finished songs. Max Mode, certain multimodal prompts and additional editing operations can consume more credits. Normal regeneration also uses another generation allowance rather than guaranteeing a free replacement for an unsatisfactory result.

The practical problem is that you can have hundreds of unused generation credits yet still exhaust your monthly download allowance. This has become a recurring frustration for creators who generate large libraries but need to export tracks regularly for publishing.

How much does each finished download cost?

If you use every included download, both monthly plans cost $0.50 per permitted song download. Annual billing reduces that subscription-equivalent figure to $0.40.

However, someone paying $10 for Pro and downloading only four finished tracks effectively spends $2.50 in subscription fees per exported track. Someone who uses all 20 pays an effective $0.50 each.

These calculations exclude editing time, additional purchases and other production expenses. The key variable is how many tracks pass your quality checks and actually need exporting, not how many initial variations Suno generates.

Downloads, stems and editing: what are you paying for?

Since 3 September 2026, Suno has applied download allowances to music in your library, including older songs. The rules contain several useful exceptions:

  • One song counts as one download: downloading the same song again or obtaining additional supported formats does not consume another allowance.
  • Stems are included: downloading a song and its available individual stems counts as a single song download.
  • Interrupted or failed downloads: these do not consume a download allowance.
  • Free users: eligible accounts may receive up to seven lifetime trial downloads, but availability differs for accounts created before and after 3 September 2026. Trial downloads do not permit commercial use.
  • Premier Suno Studio: exports made through its professional production workflow are exempt from the standard monthly download limits.

Pro and Premier subscribers can download MP3 and WAV files, and export available stems for further production. Premier adds Suno Studio, including multitrack exports, MIDI functionality and deeper arrangement controls. Some actions remain credit-metered: for example, generating MIDI from a stem in Suno Studio costs 10 generation credits.

For musicians already working in a digital audio workstation, Premier’s attraction may be its editing and export workflow rather than its larger supply of initial AI-generated songs.

Do Suno credits expire or roll over?

Suno has different rules for included generation credits, monthly downloads and purchased add-ons. Confusing them can make annual billing considerably less attractive than expected.

  • Free generation credits: replenish daily, without accumulating unused daily balances.
  • Pro and Premier generation credits: replenish monthly. Unused subscription credits do not roll over.
  • Monthly download allowances: reset on the billing anniversary. Unused downloads do not accumulate.
  • Purchased generation credits: do not expire, but require an active paid subscription to use.
  • Purchased download packs: unused purchased allowances can carry forward.

Annual billing provides a discounted subscription price, not an upfront allocation of all twelve months’ generation credits and downloads. Both allowances continue to replenish monthly.

Paid users who exhaust their monthly generation credits can receive the daily 50-credit allocation until the next renewal. This provides some additional experimentation capacity, but does not remove the separate download limit.

Buying advice: start with monthly billing until you understand your normal output requirements. The annual discount is useful only when your expected use justifies the longer commitment.

Suno commercial-use rights: what can you actually publish?

Suno’s Terms of Service, effective 3 September 2026, require closer attention than the simple commercial-use tick shown in its pricing comparison.

Paid subscribers can commercially exploit qualifying music obtained through Suno’s permitted download channels. This includes distributing tracks through music services, selling recordings, and using music in monetised videos or other commercial productions, provided you meet all applicable conditions.

There are four important restrictions.

1. Upgrading does not automatically license old free-plan songs

Suno says upgrading from Free to Pro or Premier does not grant retroactive commercial rights to earlier free-tier creations by default. Exceptional licensing may be offered for specific songs, but should not be assumed.

If you intend to monetise a project, generate the relevant music while you have an appropriate paid subscription rather than developing a complete free-tier catalogue and expecting a later upgrade to cover it.

2. A permitted download is part of the commercial-use requirement

Suno’s current terms distinguish music stored in your account from music obtained through an approved download. Commercial use requires a permitted download of the relevant output.

Saving audio through an unofficial downloader, stream capture or recording workaround does not satisfy that requirement. Export your final tracks through Suno’s authorised controls while you have the necessary paid access.

3. Commercial permissions survive cancellation for qualifying downloads

The September terms establish that commercial rights attached to qualifying permitted downloads are perpetual and are not lost simply because you cancel, downgrade or exhaust your download allowance.

Your library also remains available for listening and sharing after cancellation, but future downloads are governed by the allowance applicable to your account. Export and back up the tracks you expect to use before your paid access expires.

4. Commercial permission is not guaranteed copyright protection

Suno assigns qualifying rights it holds in paid-tier outputs, but explicitly does not guarantee that copyright will arise in AI-generated music. The legal position depends on the work and applicable jurisdiction.

There is also a separate restriction for certain user-to-user Remixes under Suno’s terms: these are limited to non-commercial use even where a paid account is involved. Do not assume that every remix or collaboratively derived track inherits the licence of the original.

For music intended for clients, streaming distribution or advertising, also check third-party material, lyrics, voice permissions and the receiving platform’s requirements.

Which Suno plan gives you enough finished tracks?

The most reliable way to select a subscription is to start with your monthly publishing schedule.

Production requirementRecommended planReason
Testing styles, prompts and personal songsFreeDaily experimentation without a subscription
Up to 20 commercially usable downloads monthlyProLowest paid entry point with suitable licensing
21-60 standard song downloads monthlyPremierHigher export allowance and more production controls
Detailed multitrack arrangement and MIDI workPremierAccess to Suno Studio
More than 60 standard song downloads monthlyAssess add-on downloads and workflowPremier’s ordinary allowance may still be insufficient

Consider a creator publishing four videos each week with two distinct music tracks in every video. That is approximately 32 finished tracks over four weeks, exceeding Pro’s standard allowance even if generation credits remain plentiful.

Conversely, someone developing 200 song ideas but exporting only eight finished tracks may be perfectly comfortable on Pro. More ideas do not necessarily justify a higher subscription.

A practical workflow for avoiding wasted Suno credits

Getting acceptable music from a generative model involves creative selection, correction and export. A simple review process helps preserve both credit types.

  1. Define the deliverable first. Specify length, vocals, instrumentation, intended platform and whether you need stems or a complete stereo mix.
  2. Keep exploratory generations separate. Use cheaper or standard generation settings for ideas, reserving expensive modes for work that genuinely benefits from them.
  3. Listen before downloading. Check the intro, vocal consistency, transitions, ending and obvious production artefacts using Suno’s built-in playback.
  4. Repair promising tracks selectively. Replacing one section may be more productive than repeatedly regenerating an otherwise acceptable song.
  5. Export only selected masters. Download the approved song through Suno’s permitted channel and collect the required WAV and available stem files together.
  6. Keep production records. Save the final files, relevant creation details, subscription information and download evidence for future rights checks.

Two problems can increase avoidable retries. If the same unwanted instrument or musical influence keeps appearing, our Suno Exclude Styles guide explains how to control exclusions. If an established singer changes unexpectedly, use the Suno Persona troubleshooting guide before spending more generation credits.

Suno pricing FAQs

How many songs can I make with 2,500 Suno credits?

At the standard rate of 10 credits per song, Pro can produce about 500 song variations each month. This assumes standard generations without additional credit-consuming operations. Only 20 distinct standard song downloads are included monthly.

Does Suno charge again to download a WAV or stems?

Downloading another supported format or the available stems of a song already downloaded does not use an additional song download allowance. Stem creation and certain editing operations may still require generation credits.

Can I monetise songs after cancelling Suno Pro?

Yes, for qualifying songs with commercial rights obtained through permitted downloads under the applicable paid subscription terms. Cancellation does not automatically revoke those rights. Free-tier creations and certain remixes have different restrictions.

Is Suno Premier worth three times the monthly price?

Premier offers four times Pro’s monthly generation credits, three times its standard download allowance, plus additional professional editing features. It is worthwhile when those resources solve a real production constraint. For occasional complete-song exports, Pro generally offers better value.

Verdict: choose Suno pricing around the tracks you will finish

Pro is the best starting subscription for most individual creators who need commercial-use permissions, current music models and a manageable monthly number of exports. Premier makes more sense for producers who need Suno Studio, advanced stems, or a much higher output volume.

Don’t buy Premier just because it advertises 10,000 generation credits. Estimate how many finished tracks you will actually export, account for retries and check the rights attached to your workflow. With the September 2026 download restrictions, that calculation is now central to deciding whether Suno represents good value.
