DIY AI charges an evaluation fee because proper testing requires time, product access, evidence collection and editorial work. The provider does not purchase our conclusion.
We apply the same relevant methodology regardless of who pays for the evaluation. Providers cannot purchase a higher score, request the removal of legitimate weaknesses or pay for a particular dataset position.
From submission to publication
What happens after you submit your tool

We confirm that the product fits a category we can meaningfully test. Unsuitable products are declined before testing begins.

You supply the necessary product access, credits or appropriate account through a secure route.

DIY AI performs the relevant tests and records the supporting evidence.

We publish the independent review with findings, strengths, weaknesses and verdict.
- 5Dataset decision
Where a relevant dataset exists, results are assessed against its inclusion requirements.
Eligibility comes first. We check category fit, product readiness, safety, access and testability. If checkout has already captured payment for a product we cannot accept, it is refunded before testing begins. Testing normally begins within 10 working days.

Strong results can lead to much wider coverage
Our datasets are used across reviews, comparisons and Best Tools coverage. If your product performs strongly enough to qualify, it may become part of that wider editorial ecosystem. Inclusion and positioning are determined by testing results, not payment.
Guaranteeing dataset inclusion simply because a provider paid would undermine the value of the comparison. The fee guarantees the work and the published review - not a place in the rankings.

What the $399 evaluation pays for
The $399 fee funds the work required to evaluate the product properly. That includes setting up access, running the relevant tests, documenting evidence, applying our methodology, analysing the results and publishing the resulting review.
It does not buy a favourable score, ranking or recommendation.

The review is still published.
Paying for an evaluation does not give a provider approval rights over our conclusions. We correct genuine factual errors, but poor test results or legitimate criticism are not removed because a provider disagrees with them.
This is why we recommend submitting products that are genuinely production-ready.

The fee guarantees the independent evaluation work and published review. It never buys the conclusion.
Is publication guaranteed?
Yes. Once the product has passed our initial eligibility check and the paid evaluation has been accepted, the resulting independent DIY AI review will be published.
Does paying $399 guarantee a positive review?
No. The fee pays for testing, analysis and publication. It has no effect on the verdict.
Does paying guarantee dataset inclusion?
No. Dataset inclusion is based on the relevant methodology and measured results. The public review remains published even if the product does not qualify for a dataset.
Can I pay for a higher score or ranking?
No. Scores and rankings are determined by the evidence and the relevant DIY AI methodology.
Can I approve the review before publication?
You may flag genuine factual inaccuracies. Editorial conclusions, scores, limitations and opinions remain under DIY AI control.
Will the review link to my product?
The review can link readers to the product where appropriate. The evaluation is not sold as a link service, and no SEO outcome or link attribute is promised.
What happens if my product does not qualify for testing?
DIY AI will decline products we cannot evaluate meaningfully and will not proceed with the paid testing engagement. If checkout has already captured payment, it will be refunded before testing begins.
What happens if my product does not qualify for a dataset?
The public review remains published. Dataset inclusion and wider editorial coverage are separate, performance-based decisions.
