Opus Clip Pricing: Credits, Plans and Real Usage Costs

Opus Clip Pricing

Opus Clip pricing starts at $15 per month for Starter, while Pro costs $29 monthly or $174 upfront for a year on the published base offer. The hard part is budgeting credits: OpusClip measures the source footage you process, and certain publishing actions also cost credits. A five-hour allowance does not necessarily mean five hours of footage plus unlimited social scheduling.

This guide uses OpusClip’s published plan terms and worked production budgets, not a claimed hands-on clipping test. It covers source minutes, X posting, shared workspaces, credit expiry, additional packs and API projects. If you need to create AI video footage from a prompt rather than extract highlights from recordings, DIY AI’s video generator is a separate workflow.

Prices checked against publicly available OpusClip information on 31 October 2026. Figures are in US dollars before any applicable tax, currency conversion or account-specific offer. The annual Pro price is not a $14.50 monthly payment: $174 is collected for the year. Twelve monthly Pro payments would total $348, so the advertised annual option saves $174 over a full year. Six months on monthly Pro also costs $174; annual only saves cash against monthly billing if you would otherwise subscribe for more than six months.

OpusClip’s annual pricing presentation is not perfectly consistent. Its credit documentation describes a full year’s credits released immediately and expiring after 12 months, while some pricing-page views describe monthly allocations and rollover. Confirm the actual credit grant and renewal price shown at checkout before paying annually. The figures here reflect the published $174 base offer, not a promise about every region or promotion. Check OpusClip’s official pricing before purchasing.

What one processing credit actually buys

OpusClip currently charges one credit per minute of source video processed, rather than per short clip exported. Submit a 45-minute interview and the processing budget is 45 credits, even if you ultimately keep only two highlights. You can reduce the charged footage by selecting a smaller processing timeframe before submission.

There is an unusual rounding rule to keep in mind. Footage shorter than one minute costs one credit; for longer videos, a partial final minute is rounded down. A 4-minute-30-second submission is therefore charged as four minutes under the documented rule. The safest forecast is to calculate each submitted project separately, not round a whole month’s aggregate footage.

Source-footage budget: ten recordings use 186 credits

Planned source materialCalculationProcessing credits
Eight short recordings8 x 12 minutes96
Two longer recordings2 x 45 minutes90
Total186 minutes186

This workload exceeds Starter’s 150-credit allowance by 36, but fits within a fresh single-pack Pro monthly balance, leaving 114 credits. It does not assume every recording generates a fixed number of worthwhile clips. Automatic clipping saves editing time only if the proposed excerpts preserve context, captions and framing well enough to publish.

To judge value, divide credits spent by approved, usable clips, not the number suggested by the software. If these recordings yielded 20 clips worth posting, processing alone would average 9.3 credits per accepted clip. If only ten passed editorial review, that figure doubles to 18.6. Production footage and subscription costs are unchanged; the usable output rate drives the effective cost. These are illustrative yields, not DIY AI test results.

Publishing-heavy budget: the same month can reach 306 credits

Publishing is a second budget line. OpusClip’s current public social-publishing pages describe a charge of three credits per clip per X account. Its help-centre credit article, however, still states one credit per X post. Because the vendor’s own pages disagree, the example below uses three credits as the conservative planning rate. Check the total displayed in the scheduling window before committing posts.

Planned activityCalculationCredits
Process ten recordings96 + 90 minutes186
Schedule 20 approved clips to two X accounts20 x 2 x 3120
Total at three credits per X post186 + 120306
Alternative total if the scheduler charges one per X post186 + (20 x 2 x 1)226

At the three-credit rate, a fresh 300-credit Pro pack falls six credits short, before any other chargeable actions. At the one-credit rate, the same plan has 74 credits remaining. A valid rollover from a previous month could also cover the shortfall. Do not upgrade solely because a forecast says 306: inspect your balance, the actual scheduler quote and any available top-up first. OpusClip says failed X posts and deleted scheduled posts are refunded, but they still need enough credits when initially queued.

The 20 clips are a publishing target, not a claim that ten recordings will yield 20 satisfactory highlights. In a real production schedule, note both how many clips were generated and how many made it past review. Otherwise, the credit budget looks precise while the editorial workload remains unknown.

Shared-team budget: packs add credits, but seats have a ceiling

The base Pro pack includes two workspace seats, 300 monthly credits and six connected social accounts. A three-person team therefore cannot assume one pack accommodates everyone. OpusClip’s plan comparison describes two seats per pack, up to four Pro users. Additional packs increase recurring credits, but buying more packs does not create unlimited team seats.

Take a team with two people preparing recordings and a third person approving and scheduling posts:

Monthly team workloadCredits at the three-credit X rate
Ten 18-minute recordings180
Four 45-minute recordings180
20 clips scheduled to two X accounts120
Shared requirement480

Two Pro packs would supply 600 recurring monthly credits and capacity for up to four seats, leaving 120 credits in this assumed month. At the displayed base rate multiplied by two packs, that is a planning budget of $58 per month or $348 upfront for annual billing. Treat these as list-price calculations, not a verified multi-pack checkout quote. Workspace members draw from the same credit pool; they do not each receive their own 300 credits. Check the account-connection cap separately when adding client profiles.

If a team has only two users but regularly needs 480 credits, packs may still make sense for capacity. Conversely, four people who use just 100 credits altogether may need the second pack for seats rather than processing. A larger operation requiring more than four users or negotiated concurrency should price Business rather than assume the Pro pack selector solves access management.

Web uploads versus API: a ten-credit minimum changes short jobs

Limited OpusClip API access is available on Pro Beta, as well as Max and Business, so API use is not strictly Business-only. Pro Beta and Max have a documented limit of 15 hours of API video per month and up to four concurrent projects; Business terms differ. These are operational limits, not a separate free credit allowance.

For a normal web submission, processing follows the source-minute rule. For an API-created project, OpusClip imposes a ten-credit minimum per project. That penalty becomes significant when your application sends lots of short recordings independently.

Example submissionsOrdinary web processingAPI processing
16 separate four-minute videos16 x 4 = 64 credits16 x 10 = 160 credits
Four separate 45-minute videos4 x 45 = 180 credits4 x 45 = 180 credits

The first workload costs 96 extra credits through the API solely because of project granularity. The second has no minimum-related penalty. Do not assume you can avoid this by joining unrelated videos into a single upload without consequences: the clipping model may then misread boundaries and context. If you automate many short submissions, build the minimum into your quote logic and confirm API entitlement, rate limits and storage retention before committing to a client workflow.

Credit expiry, renewals and top-ups: plan for uneven months

OpusClip’s help centre says credits on monthly subscriptions last 60 days, giving one additional month of rollover. Annual subscription credits are described as valid for 12 months, not 13. Under the help-centre annual-allocation model, the full 3,600 credits arrive upfront on purchase. Some pricing pages show monthly grants and a two-month rollover, so confirm the specific annual entitlement if you plan to spend heavily at the start of the year.

For recurring workloads, distinguish a recurring pack from a one-off top-up. Adding Pro packs raises future cycle capacity and the subscription charge. Refreshing a paid plan immediately purchases another allocation. On-demand top-ups are also advertised, but check the applicable price and expiry in your account rather than inferring them from the $29 subscription rate. An occasional six-credit shortfall is not by itself a reason to double a recurring subscription.

Billing timing is separate from expiry. A monthly Pro subscriber normally faces the next $29 charge at the next monthly renewal, while the quoted $174 annual offer is paid upfront and renews annually unless cancelled under the account terms. The help centre says remaining credits keep their original expiry after cancellation; check download access and any balance restrictions before relying on them during a period without a paid plan.

Which OpusClip plan is actually worth paying for?

Start with Free to test whether the automatic highlights are worth reviewing, but remember its watermark and short export window. Starter is reasonable for a solo creator processing no more than 150 source minutes per month who does not need Pro scheduling. Pro makes more sense for 186-minute production schedules, branded outputs, additional editing controls, shared seats or more complex distribution. Choose annual billing only after proving that your schedule is regular enough to justify the upfront commitment and that the displayed credit-release terms suit your peaks.

Run one representative recording through the workflow before estimating return on spend. Record source minutes charged, clips proposed, clips approved, manual correction time and publishing credits shown at confirmation. Creator discussions repeatedly describe the same limitation: plenty of AI-generated candidates can still require substantial human review. An efficient subscription should reduce the time to a publishable clip, not simply produce more candidates.

OpusClip pricing FAQs

How many clips do 300 OpusClip credits make?

There is no fixed number. The 300 credits primarily cover up to 300 minutes of source processing before other charged activities. The number of usable clips depends on the recordings, settings and editorial review.

Does OpusClip charge to schedule posts to X?

Yes. Its current public product pages describe three credits per clip per X account, while a help-centre article states one. Use the credit total presented in the scheduler for the account and action you are about to submit.

Can a Pro subscriber use the OpusClip API?

Pro Beta has limited API access, subject to access controls, monthly video caps, concurrency limits and a ten-credit minimum for each API project. Ordinary web uploads do not have that ten-credit minimum.
