Granola Pricing 2026: Free History, Seats and When to Upgrade
Granola pricing starts at $0 for Basic, rises to $14 per user per month for Business and starts at $35 per user per month for Enterprise. The free plan allows unlimited meetings, but the app keeps only the last 30 days of notes accessible.
The important buying questions are whether you need older meetings to remain searchable, how many people actually need paid workspace access, and whether exporting notes would be enough. We checked Granola’s published pricing and billing rules on 7 November 2026, including seat changes, integrations, historical exports and Enterprise eligibility.

Prices are published in US dollars, before applicable taxes. Enterprise’s $35 rate is a starting price rather than a guaranteed contract quote. Granola’s official subscriptions and billing guidance explains the workspace billing rules and plan limitations.
Granola’s free history limit is an access restriction, not automatic deletion
Basic provides AI-enhanced meeting notes, shared folders, templates, multilingual support and AI chat without a published meeting-count limit. Granola also supports desktop and mobile use without requiring a paid subscription.
The catch appears after 30 days. Older notes are no longer available for normal viewing or searching within Granola. According to its billing documentation, those notes remain stored and become accessible again when you upgrade.
Three different capabilities are worth separating:
- Capturing meetings: Basic is sufficient for ongoing note-taking without a paid seat.
- Retrieving older meetings: Business removes the 30-day in-app history restriction.
- Using meetings in other systems: Basic includes Slack and limited MCP access, while Business adds broader integrations and API access.
A consultant who copies meeting decisions into a project management system after every call might never need Business. Someone who routinely asks an AI assistant what a client agreed to three months ago has a stronger reason to upgrade.
There is also a difference between a 30-day visibility limit and a data retention policy. An organisation can have separate transcript deletion settings. Do not assume that paying for unlimited history overrides an intentional deletion policy or restores material already deleted.
Calculate your Granola workspace cost, including administrators and invitations
Granola charges per active member within each paid workspace. Administrators count as paid seats, but invitations waiting for acceptance do not. Every active member shares the workspace’s plan, so you cannot put three colleagues on Business and the remaining seven on Basic inside the same workspace.
Use this calculator to estimate your recurring cost and the effect of adding or removing members during a billing cycle. Workspace cost calculator

Estimates exclude tax and discounts. Enterprise uses the published starting rate. Actual Stripe proration may vary with precise billing timestamps, credits and contractual terms.
Why your next invoice might not match the monthly seat price
Imagine a Business workspace with four active members and one administrator. Five paid seats cost $70 per month. Two additional colleagues joining halfway through an illustrative 30-day billing cycle would increase the ongoing cost to $98, with approximately $14 in additional prorated charges for that cycle.
Granola uses Stripe to calculate actual adjustments. Its invoices may show separate credits for unused time on the previous seat count and charges for remaining time on the new count. These are accounting adjustments, not necessarily duplicate subscriptions.
Check three things before disputing an invoice: the active membership list, whether anyone joined automatically through your company email domain, and whether you belong to multiple paid workspaces. Each workspace can generate its own subscription charge.
Export old Granola notes or upgrade to Business?
Paying for Business isn’t the only way to keep a record of older meetings. Granola documents a historical CSV export, available through Settings > Profile > Generate CSV. You select the workspaces and receive a download link by email, usually within a few hours.
Its dedicated export instructions describe a CSV containing note titles, summaries, transcripts and basic details. However, its subscriptions and billing page describes the export as containing titles and summaries without full transcripts. Those official descriptions conflict.
DIY AI’s advice: Do not assume verbatim transcript export is guaranteed on your plan until you have checked an actual file. We verified the documentation but haven’t performed a Granola account export to resolve that discrepancy.
The documented export restrictions are also important:
- Exports include notes you own in the selected workspaces, not every note you can view.
- Deleted notes and notes without summaries are excluded.
- Email download links expire after 24 hours, and you can generate only one export per account every 24 hours.
- Basic and Business allow exporting by default. Enterprise administrators must enable the export permission, which is disabled by default.
- Workspace administrators cannot bulk-export every employee’s private notes.
A CSV is useful for backup, migration and keeping a static record. It does not restore the original experience of searching, questioning and connecting older meetings inside Granola.
| Your requirement | Better choice |
|---|---|
| Keep a personal archive of meeting summaries | Basic with regular exports |
| Ask AI questions about meetings older than 30 days | Business |
| Search older meetings through connected AI tools | Business |
| Use Notion, HubSpot or Zapier integrations | Business |
| Enforce organisation-wide data and sharing policies | Enterprise |
The hidden cost of splitting or removing workspace seats
Granola’s per-workspace billing model offers a practical way to control spend. If only three people in a ten-person organisation need Business, a three-seat paid workspace costs $42 a month rather than paying $140 for everyone.
There is a trade-off. Notes and folders don’t automatically flow between separate workspaces, even when the same people belong to both. Splitting your team to save $98 per month may create more manual sharing and make cross-team searches less useful.
Member removal also needs planning. Removing someone from a workspace takes away their access to personal notes stored there. Shared notes may remain available to colleagues, but private notes are not automatically transferred to an administrator.
Before removing an employee or consolidating workspaces, have the relevant owner export or transfer important material, check shared-folder ownership, and confirm who controls the payment method. Granola warns that removing the person whose card funds the subscription does not automatically replace that card.
For a consultancy or sales organisation, preserving client history before deprovisioning someone is usually more valuable than immediately saving a fraction of one monthly seat.

Granola annual billing and Enterprise SSO have different eligibility rules
Business is billed monthly at $14 per seat. There is no published self-service annual discount, so the twelve-month equivalent is $168 per user, paid through monthly billing.
Enterprise is less straightforward. Granola’s public billing help currently says annual plans are unavailable, but separate Granola Enterprise pricing material discusses negotiating annual contracts and commitments with sales. Treat annual Enterprise billing as a potential negotiated arrangement, not a guaranteed checkout option. Obtain written confirmation of the billing term, renewal conditions and final seat price.
More importantly, buying Enterprise does not automatically qualify a small team for every Enterprise feature.
Granola’s Enterprise guidance specifies that SSO and SCIM require at least 50 active workspace members or an Enterprise subscription carrying a 50-seat commitment. A five-person organisation may have reasons to buy Enterprise for governance, but should not assume its five seats are sufficient to activate SSO.
At the published $35 starting rate, a 50-seat commitment represents an illustrative $1,750 monthly baseline before negotiated terms and tax. Anyone purchasing primarily for SSO should confirm the contractual minimum before budgeting.
Enterprise also offers central transcript-retention rules, sharing controls, usage analytics and advanced integration governance. If your requirement involves regulated information, confirm the relevant controls and contractual documentation rather than assuming an Enterprise subscription alone establishes compliance.
Discounts and the point where Business becomes worthwhile
Granola offers application-based startup and student programmes that can provide 12 months of Business access free for accepted applicants. Eligibility is not automatic, and approved users must complete the upgrade checkout process to activate their benefit.
For everyone else, the clearest upgrade test is to spend several weeks using Basic, then review how much value comes from older notes rather than the newest meeting summaries.
A recurring complaint among people evaluating AI meeting tools is paying another subscription when they already have ChatGPT or Claude for summarisation. That concern is reasonable, but the comparison should include the work needed to capture, organise, retrieve and connect meetings, not simply the cost of generating a summary.
Business is easier to justify if it removes repeated manual exports, makes past conversations searchable or keeps a CRM updated without someone copying notes after every call. If you simply need a short summary and a few action points, Basic may be enough indefinitely.

What happens if you cancel Granola?
Granola says cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid billing period. The workspace then moves to Basic. Older notes remain stored but are hidden from the normal in-app history view, and paid integrations and model-selection capabilities become unavailable.
Before cancelling, identify which integrations depend on your subscription, run and inspect an export, and check whether any private notes need to be transferred. A particularly risky assumption is that a workspace administrator can always recover everything after colleagues leave. Granola’s ownership and export rules do not provide that guarantee.
Our recommendation: Start with Basic. Upgrade to Business when historical search or integrations demonstrably improve your weekly workflow. Choose Enterprise for a specific governance requirement, and confirm SSO eligibility, export controls and contractual billing before committing.
