This notice covers the DIY AI Auto Typer Chrome extension. Updated 26 October 2026. DIY AI provides the extension and optional Studio membership connection.
Your snippets and text
Snippet names, shortcuts, folders, text and template definitions are stored locally in Chrome extension storage in your browser profile. This includes names, contact details or message drafts that you choose to put in a snippet. They are not synced to DIY AI. Values you fill into a template are kept temporarily for insertion and are not saved with the template. Shared browser profiles can expose local snippets to other people using the profile.
When invoked, the extension reads the current tab’s URL locally to show the target website and choose the appropriate editor support. It does not build a browsing-history record. When you enable shortcuts, the eligible snippet library is made available to the extension’s isolated code in that tab. It processes typing and field-selection events and checks the active editing field, its text and caret to recognise shortcuts and avoid inserting into a changed target. These interactions are used for insertion, not retained as an activity or keystroke log. In Google Docs, a slash opens the extension’s picker. The chosen text is delivered to the selected field or document; that website can then process it under its own policies. The extension does not send your snippets, document text, target-tab URLs, browsing history or analytics events to DIY AI.
Optional account and membership connection
Three local snippets work without signing in. If you connect a DIY AI account, the extension contacts diyai.io to request approval and check membership access. Chrome’s identity window opens the DIY AI login and approval screen. A revocable, membership-only credential containing your numeric DIY AI account identifier is stored locally; it cannot log in to WordPress, purchase anything or generate media. DIY AI stores a hash of the credential and its expiry, normally up to 30 days. Your account and membership status determine which features are available.
Website servers receive ordinary connection information, including your IP address and request metadata, when the extension contacts DIY AI. Signup and billing happen on the DIY AI website through its existing membership and payment services. Auto Typer does not collect payment-card details. Signup can record Auto Typer as your initial product interest. The website privacy policy and checkout terms also apply.
Permissions and clipboard
Temporary active-tab access and scripting allow insertion in a tab after you invoke the extension. Storage keeps your library and optional account connection. Identity opens the sign-in window. Optional access to diyai.io is requested for account connection and membership checks. The store build does not request access to all websites, the debugger or clipboard contents, and does not download executable code.
The normal Google Docs insertion path does not read or write your system clipboard. If automatic insertion does not work and you explicitly choose the copy fallback, it replaces the clipboard with that chosen snippet. You then paste it yourself.
Removal and control
Delete snippets in the extension, or uninstall it to remove its local storage. Exported backups are separate files that you manage on your device. Turn off shortcuts, reload the page or close the tab to stop its shortcut session; sessions also expire after 30 minutes. Disconnecting removes the local account credential and attempts to revoke it on the server. If you are offline, the extension explains that server revocation is still needed. Connecting again replaces the previous account connection. Membership and account records follow the DIY AI website’s retention policy; uninstalling the extension does not cancel a subscription.
DIY AI does not sell extension user data, use it for advertising or transfer it for purposes unrelated to the extension’s stated function. Use and transfer of information received through Chrome APIs follow the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. For privacy or deletion enquiries, use the DIY AI contact page and identify Auto Typer in your request.
